Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how HoodCon ("HoodCon," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit hoodcon.com (the "Site"), join our mailing list, or contact us about the HoodCon conference (the "Event").
HoodCon is an independent event and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Robinhood Markets, Inc. or its affiliates. Information you give us is collected by HoodCon, not by Robinhood.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide. When you join the waitlist, request sponsor information, or email us, we collect what you submit. This may include your name, email address, company or project, the role you're interested in (such as attendee, sponsor, or speaker), and the content of your message.
Information collected automatically. Our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, approximate location (country), and pages visited. We use it to deliver the Site, prevent abuse, and understand overall traffic. If we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, it is designed to measure visits without cookies or cross-site tracking.
Cookies. The Site does not currently use advertising or tracking cookies. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary cookies for security and bot protection. If we add non-essential cookies in the future, we will update this policy and ask for consent where required.
2. How we use information
- To send updates about the Event, such as dates, venue, ticket launches, hotel blocks, and speaker or sponsor opportunities
- To respond to inquiries from attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, vendors, and media
- To plan and operate the Event, including estimating attendance and arranging venues and accommodations
- To secure the Site and prevent spam, fraud, and abuse
- To comply with legal obligations
We send marketing emails only to people who have opted in. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only:
- With service providers who help us run the Site and Event (for example, hosting, email delivery, and ticketing and registration platforms), and only as needed to provide their services to us
- With venue, hotel, or accommodation partners when needed to fulfill a booking or request you make
- With sponsors or exhibitors only if you explicitly choose to share your details with them (for example, by having your badge scanned at a booth)
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of HoodCon, attendees, or others
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or transfer of the Event, subject to this policy
4. Third-party sites and platforms
The Site links to third-party websites, such as hotel booking pages, Airbnb, and future ticketing platforms. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. When you buy tickets or book lodging through a third party, that party's terms and privacy policy apply to the transaction.
5. Data retention
We keep mailing-list information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until it is no longer needed for the Event series. We keep inquiry correspondence for as long as needed to respond and for reasonable business records.
6. Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time with the link in any message or by emailing us. Depending on where you live, including California, other U.S. states, the EEA, and the UK, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email hello@hoodcon.com with the subject "Privacy request." We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. If you are in the EEA or UK, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Where the GDPR applies, we process your information based on your consent (mailing list), our legitimate interests (responding to inquiries, securing the Site, and planning the Event), and our legal obligations.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the U.S. and other countries. If you share information from outside the U.S., it will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.
9. Children
The Site and Event are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Event develops, for example when ticketing opens. We will post the updated version here and change the "Last updated" date. If the changes are material, we will give more prominent notice.
